MEET DR. WESLEY POWELL

Wesley Powell, DDS, MS is a board-certified pediatric dentist in Atlanta, providing care for children, teens, and adolescents over 16 years. He completed his undergraduate studies at Southern Methodist University with a degree in anthropology and attended Columbia University School of Dentistry and Oral Surgery in New York for his dental training.

Prior to beginning his residency in pediatric dentistry, Dr. Powell completed an externship at UAB in oral and maxillofacial Surgery. He then completed a three-year postgraduate residency program in pediatric dentistry while earning a Master’s Degree in Clinical Dentistry at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. His thesis was published in the Journal of Oral Immunology and Microbiology. He and his entire team are certified in CPR, and Dr. Powell is certified in Pediatric Advanced Life Support.

Dr. Powell’s commitment to his patients and profession earned him the title of Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry. He also enjoys membership in the following organizations:

• American Dental Association
• Georgia Dental Association
• American Society of Dental Anesthesia

Dr. Powell was instrumental in launching Team Smile in the Atlanta area, where he acts as the Atlanta Dental Coordinator. Team Smile is a program where dental professionals team up with the Atlanta Falcons Organization to enhance children’s health and wellness through improved oral health.

Dr. Powell invests in our local youth education both in the classroom and on the field helping to foster a dedication to education in our next generation. He often takes time to visit with the children in our community to educate them in a fun and meaningful way about good oral health.

Dr. Powell is a resident in the City of Brookhaven community and has appeared in the local Brookhaven Publication “Historic Brookhaven Living in February 2022“.
